Dholpur Red Sandstone is a kind of Red sandstone which is quarried in the Dholpur district of Rajasthan. It is also known as Agra red sandstone. This sandstone has been used in some of the famous historic sites of India such as Agra fort and Red fort. The color of the sandstone depends upon the minerals that are present near it during its formation. Red color of this sandstone is due to presence of iron oxide. This stone is hard, weather resistant and has smooth finish which makes it perfect for both interior and exterior construction purposes such as roofing , paving, walling, monuments, stair cases and so on.
